When you open it, you will see attractive inside of the laptop that includes 17.3 inches or 15.6 inches screen diagonal which depends on the laptop that is chosen from the selection, surrounded by a black frame. Under you will see the keyboard, complimented with LED backlights colored in red, green and blue. The color freedom is the thing that I liked a lot with the keyboard, especially because it also has a brushed aluminum lining. The old fashioned laptops are past but the aluminum and generally metal built laptops cost more. Nonetheless, the metal brushed laptops seem much more sleek, elegant and valuable compared to the cheap plastic ones.
The laptop was expected to be one of those chunky models that feel heavy on touch, and impossible to transfer on greater distance. Weighting 2.7kg (6 pounds) it does go over our upper limit in terms of weight.
However, the laptop itself is not too heavy considering the components it utilizes inside of it. It is genuinely slim and thin hence there won’t be significant troubles putting it in a bag. Moreover, the keyboard gives an attractive, yet powerful style in terms of gaming fashion. I wish that the keyboard is colored in only one color. Preferably red or blue but that is not something that is too hard to set.
The keyboard is very large and wide. Despite the width of the keys, the manufacturers succeeded to imbue a numeric pad on the right side of the laptop which will appeal to people who like to switch between entertainment (gaming) and business. The keys feel cushy and deep while you press them. The anti-ghosting feature avoids frequent typing errors and make the keyboard fast and accurate. Another good thing about keyboard is that despite being different than other laptop keyboards, it is very innovative and it allows the user to with ease get used to it. The fact that keys feel deep on tap shows us that there won’t be unnecessary, rather annoying noise as the fast typing or operating with character goes.
Touch bar is also in brushed metal, smooth and sleek, just perfect. The touch bars are not essentially important to gamers who prefer laptops but, it is nice to know there is a touch bar to rely on in distress or simple day to day operations on a laptop. It runs very smoothly and swift. It has fast accessing speed and responses respectfully. It has everything an average laptop user would ask from a laptop, as it’s really rare to find a professional gamer play with a laptop using just touch bar. Honestly, I don’t even play The Sims with a touch bar.

Things that I didn’t like

Aside from the wonderful design, beautiful, disco gaming keyboard with backlights and cushy lining, the laptop runs perfectly. Moreover it offers a great VR ready experience that was waited for a long time. For this budget you won’t find a better laptop with more promising and confident experience. The biggest reason for recommending this laptop is the graphics card and the high-quality cooling system that prevents overheating. The system contains everything a gamer is looking forward to.

The laptop can’t be proud of its battery life but that is understandable. The laptop has advanced cooling utilities for the strongest game performance. The laptop will certainly beat every game’s stress.
After a sleek and attractive design, there’s a GTX 970 M and 16GB of RAM. The multitasking performance and MMO activity is handled by the i7 processor with 2.6 GHz that goes up to 3.2 GHz under the turbo mode.
The RAM can be extended up to 32GB which is more than enough and laptop sports a 1 TB SATA drive along with a 256 GB SSD drive. It is more than enough to impress even the strictest gamers in the world.
Things that I liked
- The vast majority of games that require good handling and care can produce up to 40-60 FPS.

The laptop has processor Intel’s Core i7-6700HQ processor that boosts up to 3.2 GHz, providing high-end experience in games that have a lot of players around you (MMO, open world kind of games) the laptop has the GTX 1060 that enables great gaming experience just like mentioned before and 12 GB of RAM and a 1 TB accompanied with the 128 GB SSD drive brings a lot of adventure has a lot to bring onboard.
All in all the laptop is a bit older version of GE72 but that doesn’t make it any less good than it’s descendant.
Things that I liked
- Less bloatware than the descendant GE72 for sure.
- Great keyboard with cushy, soft lining that allows great performance when typing, also comfortable with writing.
- The laptop is impressively lightweight and thin. As the most of the laptop are very heavy and chunky it was a happy surprise to see this laptop doesn’t weight more than it should, especially with such a strong graphics card.
- SSD drive that provides great and smooth performance worth mentioning.
- Durable battery life compared to other models.
Things that I didn’t like
- Older than the GE72. Even though there are not too many changes, not too worse than it’s descendant.
- It occasionally runs very laggy when the laptop is exposed to large pressure which can get very annoying.
Reason for Recommending
I’d recommend this laptop to everyone who wouldn’t like to be completely up to date with the best gaming news and utilities but from some reason or the other can’t afford it. Everyone deserves to live through the high-demanding top notch quality of playing games of today.

- For a change I liked the ordinary, casual looking design that doesn’t point out anything else gaming like except the backlight keyboard illuminated especially in the WASD keys.
- It’s great to utilize GTX 1060 on such a thin and slim model of laptop. It’s good to see technology advancing so much.
- Great cooling system that promises a lot.
- Sharp, clear screen with vibrant textures of colors.
- The bloatware is easy to remove from the laptop.
Things that I didn’t like
- I’d prefer a replacement SSD drive even if it’s only 256 GB to 512 GB, all of us have external hard drives where we keep the vast majority of games.
- The laptop has a VR ready graphics card but the i5 processor cannot run the VR games unfortunately.

When you’re looking for a proficient, gaming model of laptop sometimes you’d prefer taking on a casual yet beautifully designed laptop. This being said, the laptop can despite its slim and ultrabook like design reach its maximum in playing high demanding games on top notch quality. If you take this laptop you’ll look forward towards the new releases and greet them with pleasure knowing that your laptop will run them.

Easy to carry in the bag from school library to the LAN parties and back. The laptop also sports a decent battery life that puts its competition far under because of lack of all those ROG lights aside from the LED backlit keyboard. A great add on to the gaming collection without spending too much money, definitely worth having.

We’ve come to the end of 5 professional gaming laptops above $1000. We believe there were better laptop than this. However our aim is to find the best combination of laptops that serve the high demands of ever growing gaming community. Most laptops range between the GTX 970M and GTX 1060M mostly because of its superb Virtual Reality level of graphics experience.
All laptops have sharp, vivid screens with IPS like or G-sync panel for great ambient viewing of angles and distance in the open world games. Moreover, there is a lot of storage that include fast 7200RPM mechanical hard drives and decent SSDs with fast and smooth storage.
