Pool Party Checklist: 4 Things to Do

There’s a reason pool parties are so popular in the summertime. They’re a great opportunity to relax and cool off with friends and family. But before you can sit back and enjoy the party, there’s a little bit of work to be done. Use this checklist to make sure you have the essential things taken care of before your guests arrive.

Have Your Pool Cleaned

You don’t want your guests swimming in a dirty pool. A dirty pool can result in swimmers getting sick, and no one wants that.

How can you tell if your pool needs cleaning?

Look for these things:

  • Water that’s cloudy or murky.
  • Debris like leaves, sticks, or bugs.
  • Slime or algae build-up on the walls or floor.

If you see any of those things, it’s time to give your pool a good cleaning. While you could probably do it yourself, it’s best to hire a professional pool cleaning service to get the job done properly.

Plus, it’ll free up your time for more party planning.

Have the professionals give your pool a good cleaning a few days before the party. This will give you time to make sure everything is in working order and that the pH levels are balanced.

Buy or Rent Pool Toys and Accessories

No pool party is complete without a few fun toys and accessories. Sure, your guests can just swim around, but where’s the fun in that? You can buy most of these things online or at your local pool supply store.

Some essential pool party items include:

  • Inflatable rafts or floats.
  • Beach balls.
  • Water guns.
  • Splash pads or sprinklers.

If you’re planning on having a lot of kids at your party, you might want to consider renting some kid-specific toys and accessories as well.

Make Sure You Have Plenty of Food and Drinks

Your guests are going to work up an appetite swimming around, so make sure you have plenty of food and drinks on hand.

You have different options when it comes to food. You can opt for a potluck-style party and have your guests bring their own food and drinks.  Or, you can hire a catering company to do the work for you.

Be sure to check the credentials of any catering companies you’re considering. You want to make sure they’re reputable and that they’ll be able to handle your party’s food needs.

Make sure to cater to guests with special dietary requirements.

Music is a Must

No party is complete without music, and that includes pool parties.

You have options for music at your party. If you have an outdoor speaker system, you can just hook your phone up to it and play whatever you want. Simply make a party playlist beforehand.

Or, you could hire a DJ.

Following this pool party checklist will help ensure that you have a great time at your party without any stressful surprises. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the party!
